Quite literally it means 1 Of A Kind.

One size does not fit all and one service does not suit every person in need of care.

We only employ the highest quality staff that will fit in with your needs.

We’re excited and thrilled to say that the Chilton Club has reopened, as was announced by our MD – Angel Clark – during an interview on BBC Radio Suffolk. Angel shared a lovely exchange with radio host Mark Murphy during which she told the world about how vital the club is to Sudbury.

In Angel’s words, the Chilton Club was the “heart of the town” for the members of the elderly community and she continued “As soon as we heard the news, we knew we had to do something to save this local service”. Its reopening will see the centre operating much as it did before, but with a few necessary Covid-related changes.

Operating during the pandemic has presented extra challenges, but they have been met as the centre has been transformed in a Covid-safe area with the full range of safety measures implemented. This includes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), social distancing and temperature checks conducted on anyone entering the building.

The Chilton Club had previously been run for many years by Age UK Suffolk as a daycare centre for the elderly and vulnerable, but following months of economic uncertainty, the company collapsed in late July. This placed the wellbeing and welfare of many needy people into question, as the centre was at serious risk of shutting down for good.

The great news is that Sudbury’s Chilton Club was saved from permanent closure after we stepped in and secured a new lease agreement on the premises. Having reached an agreement with Age UK Suffolk liquidators and the landlord, the club is now under new management!

The Chilton club will be absorbed into our Acton day centre, which will make it the biggest facility of its kind in Sudbury. The importance of the services the club provides to those who need it the most cannot be underplayed, as it offers a place for seniors to socialise and enjoy the company of others.

In addition to gardening, crafts and bingo, the club provides a place for people to get together and reminisce, which is particularly helpful for those living with dementia. The Chilton Club offers a lifeline to so many and we’re delighted to have been part in saving it from closure.

So if you would like to attend the Chilton Club or you have an elderly loved who would benefit from attending, we would love to hear from you. Just call us on 01787 326555 or email Jilly@1oakcare.com and we’ll do our utmost to get back to you as soon as we can

So for the last few months we have been working with the CQC to ensure that we are fully compliant with them and, as of last week, we have now got their approval to work within our community to deliver care to those in need.

As company owners and managers we are so proud of what we have achieved in all aspects of this company to date and having CQC approval is now the icing on the cake.

So, next up, we are planning all sorts of social events, including a launch party at the beginning of July to celebrate ad  show you what we have planned.

Feel free to drop us an email for information about the launch event or sign up to the mailing list for our social events to be posted straight to you. My email is angel@1oakcare.com or give me a call – I’m happy to have a chat anytime on 01787 326555.
